2. What this is about

markitdown.eu provides the conversion tool MarkItDown. We only process data that is technically required to run the site, and data you explicitly consent to.

3. Your files stay in your browser

Text recognition (OCR) also runs in the browser. Program files and language data are served by us from markitdown.eu.

4. Hosting, server logs and Cloudflare

The site is hosted by Hostinger International Ltd., 61 Lordou Vironos Street, 6023 Larnaca, Cyprus, behind the network of Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA, for fast delivery and protection against attacks. Requests involve technically necessary data (IP address, date and time, page, browser, operating system, referrer). Cloudflare may set the strictly necessary cookie __cf_bm. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR and Section 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG. Transfers to the USA rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.

5. Cookieless page counts (Koko Analytics)

We count page views with Koko Analytics on our own server. It sets no cookies, stores no IP addresses and builds no profiles; only aggregated page counts are kept. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR.

6. Google Analytics 4 only with consent

Only if you agree in the consent notice do we load Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). Google then sets cookies and processes usage data, also in the USA. Without consent nothing from Google is loaded. Your choice is stored in your browser (key mdc_consent); change it any time via "Cookie settings" at the bottom of the page. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR and Section 25 (1) TDDDG.

7. MarkItDown Pro and browser storage

Free use stores nothing in your browser. If you connect MarkItDown Pro to your Answer the Web account, we set the strictly necessary cookie atw_sat (HttpOnly, 30 days). It only holds a pseudonymous ID and the expiry of your subscription, no email address. Our server checks with answertheweb.com at most every six hours whether the subscription is still active; only this ID is sent, never files. While you use Pro, your history may be kept in your browser's local storage (mdp_history); it stays on your device and can be deleted at any time.

Purchase, account and payment for Webtools Pro run on answertheweb.com, where theAnswer the Web privacy policy applies. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) lit. b GDPR.

8. Email contact

If you email us, we use your details only to handle the request (Art. 6 (1) lit. b and f GDPR) and delete them once no longer needed.

9. Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection (Art. 15 to 21 GDPR), the right to withdraw consent at any time, and the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.
